Disinfection and algal killing of swimming pools are the main links in water quality management. The main purpose of disinfection is to kill bacteria and viruses in swimming pool water, in order to prevent swimmers from cross infection in the water and affecting their physical health.

The advantages of TCCA
At present, the best disinfectant for disinfecting and killing algae in swimming pools is TCCA. TCCA is an organic chlorine disinfectant that has stable chemical properties and is not easily decomposed. When stored in a dry environment for one year, its effective chlorine content only decreases by 1%. During the hydrolysis process of TCCA, almost all of it exists in the form of hypochlorous acid (Hclo), which is a strong oxidant that can cause oxidative denaturation of pathogenic bacterial proteins to death. Due to the presence of co functional groups in TCCA molecules, they can gradually decompose and release hypochlorous acid in water, which has a stabilizing effect on the available chlorine in water. This is unique to the structural characteristics of TCCA molecules, thus it has a special effect that is not found in water bleaching. TCCA has a long duration of efficacy, has the disinfection effect of oxygen, can increase the oxygen content in water, and has the advantages of precipitation and instant dissolution after entering the water.

The dosage of TCCA
Generally, a swimming pool should add 90% TCCA granules or disinfectant tablets at a rate of 3-5 grams per cubic meter. If there is residual chlorine of 0.4-0.6ppm in the water when it is open, it indicates that there is still disinfectant present in the water. However, in practical operation, the residual chlorine in the swimming pool is constantly decreasing. If it is necessary to regularly maintain 0.4~0.6ppm, it is necessary to continuously supplement the swimming pool with disinfectant to achieve the goal. So the general operating method is to apply disinfectant once or twice a day, and choose to use it during non open hours. The dosage often exceeds the national residual chlorine requirement, such as using 3ppm for killing algae and 2ppm for sterilization and disinfection. But this is not absolute either. The dosage of disinfectant should be determined based on the water quality of the pool and the type of disinfectant used.

How to Add swimming pool disinfectant TCCA
Add 3-5 KG of disinfectant per thousand cubic meters of water (double when new water is added) to ensure that the residual chlorine content in the swimming pool is between 0.3-0.5 ppm (DPD measurement). When adding the disinfectant, evenly distribute it and start the circulating pump. After two hours, detect the residual chlorine. If the residual chlorine is less than 0.5 ppm, add 1 KG of disinfectant (referring to per thousand cubic meters of water). Disinfectants should be added and tested every day. When the pool water does not meet the residual chlorine standard, additional pool disinfectants should be added.
Only by maintaining a stable residual chlorine concentration can it have a good killing effect on bacteria, algae, etc. If this indicator is properly controlled, it will avoid the occurrence of many sudden water quality problems. This way, for swimming venues, there is no need to take various emergency measures due to deteriorating water quality, which can actually save more on water treatment costs; In addition, on-site testing should be strengthened, and if the residual chlorine content is lower than the national standard, disinfectants should be promptly added.
