I. Algicides
Algicide is also called algaecide. It has good bactericidal and algae-killing ability in different PH values, can effectively dig out algae reproduction and slime growth, and has the functions of dispersion and penetration, can penetrate and remove slime and peel off attached algae, in addition, it has the ability of oil removal. It kills algae and has excellent stripping effect on biological slime attached to the pipeline wall. If the amount of algaecide can be controlled well when it is used, it has no effect on fish and can also play a role in algaecide. However, if the dosage is excessive, it will do harm to the health of fish.
Advantages:
- Broad-spectrum sterilization and high efficiency – Environmentally friendly
- The release sterilization time is long – Can replace the disadvantage of large dosage of traditional disinfectants
- Good stability – Store for more than twelve months
- Easy to use – Just sprinkle it in
II. Principle
i. Obstructing the respiration of bacteria and microorganisms: Most microorganisms are metabolized by respiration, and enzymes containing protein mercaptan play a key role in respiration.
ii. Destroy the cell wall of microorganisms: Bactericide and algaecide can melt the cell wall of pathogenic microorganisms, and destroy the balance of their internal and external environment, resulting in the death of bacterial microorganisms.
iii. Hinder the formation of nucleic acid: destroy the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
III. Usage
i. The germicide and algaecide product is administered for the first time with the concentration of 200-300g/ ton, and the moss, algae and slime are cleaned once, and there is no residual supplement;
ii. In summer, add the medicine every 5-7 days, with the dosage of 150g/ ton; Once every 30 days in winter, the dosage is 150g/ ton (the dosage is appropriately adjusted according to the water quality).
iii. The dosage of germicide and algaecide is related to the concentration of the medicament and the environment in which it is used. There is no fixed standard, and everything is adjusted according to the use effect. The adding period of oxidizing bactericide is shorter, and the adding period of non-oxidizing bactericide is longer. Non-oxidizing bactericide should be added once every 7 to 10 days in summer and once every 15 to 20 days in winter.
Formulation sharing of sterilization and algaecide
- N-(beta, beta-dichlorovinyl) salicylamide 8-12%
- 30-40% surfactant
- 1-2% of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid
- 5-8% sodium bicarbonate
- Water surplus

Matters need attention
i. Algicides are general chemicals, so personal protection is needed. When using them, rubber gloves should be worn to avoid getting on your hands and causing slight reaction.
ii. When you have direct contact with the skin accidentally, rinse it with plenty of water.
iii. Put the algaecide in a cool, ventilated and dry place indoors to avoid deterioration caused by humid environment, and don’t mix it with other chemicals.
