Alkyl Glycoside “Green” Functional Surfactant

Alkyl glucoside, abbreviated as APG, is synthesized from renewable natural fatty alcohol and glucose. It is a new type of non-ionic surfactant with comprehensive performance. It has the characteristics of common non-ionic and anionic surfactants. It has high surface activity, good ecological safety and miscibility. It is internationally recognized as the preferred “green” functional surfactant.

Compared with other surfactants, alkyl glycoside(APG) surfactants have the characteristics of low surface tension, strong decontamination, stability in alkaline environment, excellent compounding performance, low skin irritation and low toxicity. At the same time, because it is prepared with glucose and fatty alcohol, it has good biodegradability and no pollution to the environment. With superior performance and great development potential, it is widely used in washing, cosmetics, food and other industrial fields. As a new type of environmental friendly surfactant, in recent years, the research on alkyl glycosides has increasingly become one of the most active research fields and development priorities of surfactants.

Alkyl glycoside (APG) has excellent ecological and toxicological properties and outstanding physical and chemical properties. It is especially suitable for washing products and personal care products in contact with human skin. In addition, it can be used as functional additives in daily chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, industrial emulsifier, food industry, biochemical industry and agricultural chemicals.

APG has advantages in product safety (excluding toxic by-product dioxane), mildness and antibacterial property. APG can be stored for a long time in a large temperature range. At the same time, it has the function of humidification, which fully meets the performance requirements of active components for cosmetics. APG has been used as an active component in cosmetics at home and abroad. This new type of cosmetics shows good skin moisturizing and skin curing properties.

APG is suitable for refining, dyeing and other processing. APG can also be used as paraffin emulsifier instead of Pingjia ,crease proofing agent for cotton cloth, powder dispersant for aqueous solution and dust proofing agent in textile industry.

When making mold in construction industry, adding APG into concrete can play the role of demulsifier, thickener, dispersant and dustproof agent.

In food processing, APG cooperates with other additives to make the food loose in structure and good in taste.

APG is often used as emulsifier in pesticide industry; In addition, APG also has significant synergistic effects on herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.

In the pharmaceutical industry, APG is mainly used as emulsifier, dispersant or synergist of active components.
