DMAPA/N,N-3-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine

Dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) is a diamine used in the preparation of some surfactants, such as cocamidopropyl betaine which is an ingredient in many personal care products including soaps, shampoos, and cosmetics.

Applications:

  1. DMAPA is used as an intermediate in the production of binding agents, ion-exchange materials, flocculating agents (water treatment), cosmetic agents, washing and cleaning agents (betaines), additive for petrol and other fuels, polyurethane fibres and lubricants, dyes, agrochemicals, agents used in the photographic and textile industries, etc.
  2. DMAPA is also used directly as al hardener in epoxy resins in the plastics industry,  as a cross-linking agent for cellulose fibres in the paper industry and as an anti-shriking agent for leather.
  3. DMAPA is an Epoxy hardener. DMAPA reacts with epoxide to form 3D cross-linked thermoset structures.
  4. DMAPA is also used for the synthesis of betaines, which are widely employed in personal care products, shampoos, washing and dishwashing detergents.
  5. DMAPA is a multifunctional amine used as a building block for lube oil dispersants as well as lubricity improvers and corrosion inhibitors.

Storage:

Can be stored in a safe manner in closed containers for a long period. Avoid contact with copper and its alloys.

DMAPA drums should be stored in a cool and well ventilated area, away from source of ignition.
